Executive Biographies

Tyrone joined three6five in early 2010. He is also one of the technical pioneers in the SA Internet and telecoms scene – he started his professional career at Telkom on the core infrastructure team (working on what was then the world’s largest OSPF implementation) before moving to Internet Solutions in 2000 to help implement one of Africa’s first MPLS networks.

This network was ground-breaking technology. Tyrone was the lead design and build engineer on the VPN network which eventually spanned Africa and into Europe and Asia, working in London, the USA and Switzerland to get all the ends together. He entertained himself (and others) while busy doing all this engineering work by presenting at conferences on MPLS deployment, traffic engineering and QoS.

This willingness to share expertise with the technical community didn’t stop when he moved to Cisco in 2006 as a senior systems engineer, where he worked on the design of many ISP and mobile networks in Southern Africa (including leading the project to build Telkom’s Next Generation IP network). He moved from Cisco to Juniper, again as a senior systems engineer, working on MTN’s Juniper-only data centre in Cameroon, and the worldwide project to connect all 23 of MTN’s international operations together, whilst still finding time to present at top national conferences.

Tyrone was tempted away from the vendor world by the team at three6five. He was unable to resist the chance to work with the best bunch of networking guys in Africa, who also share his old-school work values, of honesty, integrity and hard work. Tyrone is a qualified CCIE.

Nick joined three6five in 2012 to strengthen the routing and switching team with his considerable experience in both Service provider and Enterprise networks. We had to get him back from Bermuda where he had just finished Rolling out a Metro fibre and WiMax network for the ISP he was principal engineer at.

Nick’s considerable expertise and ability to design, sell and implement a network made him the natural choice to head up our newest office in Cape Town.

Another product of Internet Solutions, Nick knew he had a love for IP networking the moment he finished college and began certifying in networking rapidly with the culmination of his Cisco studies resulting in his CCIE in 2009. He didn’t stop there. He has since gone onto certify in Juniper, Fortinet and Riverbed to ensure he remains skilled on multiple products and vendors.

Nick is a massive technology enthusiast and can talk “tech” with just about anyone in the IT industry, including developers.

Having had previous success with growing and managing the IP Engineering team, Adam’s focus is now directed towards his team delivering cutting edge security solutions and consultation services to three6five’s customer base.

Since switching from engineering to IT in 2006, Adam has worked with a broad range of technologies, solutions and customers allowing him to build up a diverse set of technical skills and industry specific knowledge. Specializing in security early in his career, Adam focused on diverse security products, obtaining multiple certifications with the culmination being his CCIE Security in 2012.
Searching for a company that offered technical excellence, agility and the ability to work on multiple technologies Adam joined three6five in 2013. His promotion to division head of the IP engineering team allowed Adam to start providing a more managerial role as well as  input regarding technologies, trends and solutions for the company. Towards the end of 2017 Adam took over management of the Cybersecurity Division. Adam holds certifications with Cisco, Juniper, Checkpoint, Alcatel Lucent, Fortinet, F5 and Citrix.

Whilst studying at Wits Technikon in 1998, George worked part-time for ICON, the dial-up division of up and coming ISP, The Internet Solution (now IS). Spotting a real talent, IS offered him a permanent position within the network infrastructure team as a junior engineer before he even graduated.

Over the next two years, George added to his electrical engineering certificate with several Cisco qualifications. In 2002, at age 23, he became the then youngest CCIE in South Africa.

He spent another eight years at IS, working on the architecture and maintenance of its core IP and MPLS networks, the ICOZA network, international caching and routing, and QoS design. This is where his great professional passion was born – building large-scale, world-class MPLS networks and designing the services that run across them.

Wanting a bit more freedom and fresh challenges, George became a self-employed consultant to the likes of IS, MTN Irancell, Nokia Siemens Networks, Vodacom Business, Sudatel and FourSpiral. He was still in touch with Jeff and Mauritz, and a seed was planted to collaborate in a new venture, specialising in providing the best technical skills and a fierce commitment to quality customer service, which became a reality in 2009 as three6five network solutions. George is a qualified CCIE.
